Demonstration of Edo Tops (16/09/07-20/09/07)

From September 9 - 16, a series of demonstrations of the making of Edo Koma (spinning tops) by leading expert Mr. Masaaki Hiroi was held in Copenhagen and other cities. During the demonstration, Mr. Hiroi made tops in for each child present, and had them paint the tops according to their own fancy. Thus he could present the children with unique toys, handmade especially for them.

In addition, he demonstrated the making of tops with trick mechanisms on the themes of popular Japanese fairy tale figures and origami. Children as well as adults enjoyed this fascinating introduction to the world of Koma.

The demonstrations were held in the following locations:

16/09: Nationalmuseet (Copenhagen)
17/09: Johannesskolen (Frederiksberg)
17/09: The Embassy of Japan (Copenhagen)
18/09: H. C. Andersen Museet (Odense)
19/09: Vendsyssel Teater (Hjørring)
20/09: Egmont Højskolen (Odder)
