The Embassy of Japan held a cultural event on the 15 th and 16 th October at the Ambassador ' s residence, Copenhagen Hospitality College and Torvehallerne on the 16th. Although there are nearly 180 Sushi restaurants around Copenhagen, there are not so many restaurants run by Japanese. In this sense this workshop was a precious opportunity for Danes to see the authentic Sushi chef making sushi just in front of them. The Embassy of Norway in Denmark provided fresh seafood, Japanese company Yamasa offered soy source and thanks to much cooperation the event turned out to be a great success with a lot of participants. From participants we got many positive opinions such as “ It was quite impressive to know how Sushi chef uses fish with minimum wastes. ” “ There are many elements which we can learn from this event. For example the chef was really careful about sanitation, which is very important. ” And together with this Sushi demonstration we held a lecture and demonstration of Sake (Japanese rice wine) which goes well with Japanese food. This event contributed to promoting high quality Sake from northern Japan, which suffered from devastating damage caused by the earthquake and tsunami.
