Japan pop culture event: Introduction of Japanese Culture at J-popcon

On 15 May, the Embassy of Japan in Denmark threw a Japan introduction event (including calligraphy introduction) at J-popcon, the Japan pop culture event that is held every year in Copenhagen.

For the many guests at the venue, who are familiar with Anime and Manga, in order to get to thoroughly know Japan, the topics featured at the lecture were: prototypes of Manga, History of Japan, the colorful seasons, and Japanese Foods besides Sushi. The interested audience listened to the presentation eagerly and engaged in a brisk discussion at the Q&A session.

At the following calligraphy introducing event, the participants expressed deep curiosity about how to write their own name in Katakana. The manners of articulation differ greatly in Japanese and Danish and it makes Danish names hard to describe in Katakana. Therefore, the participants looked very pleased, when they learned to write their name in Katakana.

The lecture also introduced Kanji such as 日本 (Japan), 丁抹 (Denmark), 漫画 (Manga) and 愛 (Love). It was very impressive to see the participants lively writing Kanji with calligraphy pens in a harmonious atmosphere.
