The Embassy of Japan held “Japanese Film Festival” at Katuaq : Grønlands Kulturhus in Nuuk on the 29th and 30th October. This is the very first cultural event, which the Embassy of Japan arranged in Greenland.

During the 2 days, a variety of Japanese films ranging from animation to drama and comedy were shown free of charge. According to the questionnaires after the event, for a question “which was the best film”, the audiences were divided almost equally on each film. It means that everybody, men and women of all ages had their own favorite film. In total around 80 audience enjoyed the films during the 2 days. You can see how big number it is from the fact that the total population of Nuuk is around 16,000.

In addition to the film event, a “Japanese books exhibition” was held at The National Library of Greenland during the film event. A variety of books, which are related to Japan, were exhibited near the entrance, and people enjoyed them.
