The Embassy of Japan in Denmark held the 2nd Japanese Film Festival at Katuaq : Grønlands Kulturhus in Nuuk from 2nd to 4th July 2014.

At this film festival, which came into existence with the cooperation of Japan Foundation, new Japanese films such as “The Kirishima things” and “The Wolf Children” sponsored by Viz Media Europe Group were screened, which got a lot of success in Japan. At the opening ceremony, the Minister for Finance and Internal Affairs Mr. Vittus Qujaukitsoq together with Japanese Ambassador Mr.Seishi Suei made opening speeches, which got the interest of the local media. As a result, around 450 audience members in total enjoyed the films during the 3 days, which is much more than last year.

Furthermore, a series of “Japanese Week” events were held at The National Library of Greenland in the same way as last year. The Japanese books exhibition, Kendama competition, Origami workshops and so on were also held during the film week. Especially Kendama is extremely popular among the children in Greenland, and these events proved equally as popular as the film festival.
