Japan and WHO
On 1 September, Dr. Hans Henri P. Kluge, World Health Organization Regional Director for Europe kindly visited the Residence of the Ambassador of Japan, MIYAGAWA Manabu. Together with the Embassy colleagues, they discussed both existing cooperation and future opportunities and challenges that WHO and Japan are willing to address together. The meeting coincided with the visit by H.E. Mr. Magnus Heunicke, Minister of Health of Denmark to Japan. Ambassador MIYAGAWA took this opportunity to reiterate his gratitude to Dr. Kluge for the effective information sharing on the COVID-19 by WHO in the past two years and a half, and he also touched upon ongoing health collaboration between Japan and Denmark which are relevant and conducive to WHO as well. Both of them took positive note of the steadfast implementation of the assistance to internally-displaced populations in Ukraine and refugees in neighbouring countries supported by WHO, Asia Europe Foundation and Japan jointly. We will look forward to further opportunities to build on what Japan and WHO have achieved for the promotion of Universal Health Coverage for many years to come.
