Ambassador Uyama Participated in the Event of the Presentation of the Book “Ancient Japanese Coinage”

2023/12/13
On December 13, Ambassador UYAMA Hideki participated in the event of the presentation of the book “Ancient Japanese Coinage”, a catalogue of William Bramsen’s collection of Japanese coins in the National Museum of Denmark. William Bramsen lived in Japan in the 1870s, collected Japanese coins and conducted comprehensive research on them. The new publication has been made possible by collaboration between the Japan Academy and the National Museum of Denmark, which is a splendid example of Japan-Denmark cooperation in culture.
Mr. Michael Andersen, Head of Research and Collections of the National Museum, co-editors of the book, Dr. Shinichi Sakuraki, Professor of Asahi University, and Dr. Peter Kornicki, Emeritus Professor of Cambridge University, and others took part in the event.  Ambassador Uyama expressed his appreciation and congratulations to the researchers and all those who engaged in the work for the successful publication of the book. Ambassador Uyama also visited the research laboratory of the Museum where Bramsen’s collection of Japanese coins is preserved.
