Sake Symposium in Denmark
2024/9/10
On September 10, Mr. HARADA Masaru, Chargés d'Affaires ad interim of Japan hosted a symposium to raise awareness of Japanese sake in Denmark through introducing the cultural value of Japanese sake.
Following the opening speech by Mr. Harada, Mr. Terada, a Japanese sake brewer, gave a presentation on “Terada Honke's traditional sake brewing and its methods” and Mr. Markus Oxelman, an expert on Japanese sake in Denmark, gave a presentation on “Nordic taste and Japanese sake”. Then, Ms. Adachi, international kikisake-shi, and Mr. Henrik Ando, a Japanese restaurant owner, participated in a panel discussion on the sake market, the compatibility of sake with Hygge, and the appeal of sake to the Danish cousumers.
The symposium was attended by sake wholesalers, retailers, restaurateurs, hoteliers, and media, and was a great opportunity for networking and learning about sake pairings with Danish cuisine.
