Ambassador Uyama’s Visit to Odense and Faaborg-Midtfyn

    On October 20th, Ambassador Uyama visited Odense to see the finals of the international badminton tournament “Victor Denmark Open 2024” on the invitation from Badminton Denmark, the sponsor company “Victor”, and Odense Municipality. About 20 Japanese players participated in the tournament, with great achievements of the victory of Ms. Kie Nakanishi and Ms. Rin Iwanaga in women’s doubles, as well as the runner-up of Mr. Koki Watanabe in men’s singles.
   On October 21st, the Ambassador had a meeting with Mr. Peter Rahbaek Juel, Mayor of Odense, and Mr. Henrik Harnow, Director of Museum Odense, in Odense City Hall. The Ambassador expressed congratulations on the 35th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Funabashi City and Odense, and discussed possibilities of further cooperation between Japan and Odense in economic relations and cultural exchanges.
   The Ambassador visited Odense Robotics, a Danish industry-government-academia collaboration hub specializing in robotics and drones, and listened to the presentation about its activities from Mr. Soeren Elmer Kristensen, CEO of Odense Robotics. They discussed possible cooperation between Japan and the organization.
   After that, the Ambassador visited Faaborg-Midtfyn, a friendship-city of Noboribetsu City of Hokkaido, on the invitation from Ms. Lizzi Zander Jensen, former President of the Faaborg-Midtfyn Noboribetsu Friendship Association, who was awarded with a Japanese decoration last year. He was warmly welcomed by Mr. Hans Stavnsager, Mayor of Faaborg-Midtfyn, Ms. Jensen and members of the friendship association including Mr. Kaare Linnebjerg, President, as well as host families who have received students and trainees from Noboribetsu.
