Effective October 1, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has appointed Mr. Inooraq Brandt as Honorary Consul-General of Japan in Nuuk.
Mr. Brandt possesses an extensive network within Greenland's business community, notably serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Royal Arctic Line A/S, the sole shipping company operating between Greenland and Denmark, since October 2025. Since October 2026, Mr. Brandt has served as the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Tusass A/S, Greenland's national telecommunications company, building on his strong engineering background. His profound understanding of Greenlandic culture and traditions, fostered through his leadership in indigenous sports like the Arctic Games (Inuit Games) and his active community engagement, has earned him widespread social trust. Known for his amiable and kind personality, Mr. Brandt is passionate about mentoring young people and contributing to society, drawing on his experience as an educator and sports coach.
In his capacity as Honorary Consul-General of Japan in Nuuk, Mr. Brandt will play a crucial role in fostering closer ties between Japan and Greenland. His deep expertise in key Greenlandic industries, broad professional network, and profound understanding of the local context are expected to significantly contribute to strengthening bilateral relations, promoting economic and cultural exchange, and enhancing mutual understanding between Japan and Nuuk, and indeed, Greenland as a whole.
